Exciting changes coming to Stony Brook EM!

First off, Stony Brook EM is pleased to announce that the ACGME has approved an increase in our resident complement to 48. Starting this July, we will be matching 16 new residents each year.

Secondly, we have appointed 2 new Assistant Program Directors to our residency leadership: Drs Christine Ahn and Kara Otterness! They have each served as Core Faculty for our residency for several years, and they will continue to develop our academic and didactic curriculum in their new roles.

Unfortunately, our current Clinical Director, Michael Stratemeier MD will be leaving us. We are grateful for all he has done to improve our department over the last three years, and we wish him well in his new endeavor in North Carolina.

Eric Morley, MD will serve as our Clinical Director effective February 1, 2017. Dr Morley has been with our department for four years serving multiple roles including Associate Chief of Emergency Medicine for Peconic Bay Medical Center, Associate Program Director for our residency, and Director of Resident Research.

Robert Schwaner, MD will serve as our Associate Clinical Director. Dr Schwaner has been with us for nearly 2 years, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology.
